Swin has been enjoying spending a few days in her hometown of McKeesport, PA. Not only did she get to host the first day of the spring session of the Cash for Kids Youth Leagues, but she also got to enjoy her mother’s home cooking!
Her visit to McKeesport also included a meeting with the city’s new Mayor, the Honorable Michael E. Cherepko and his Chief of Staff Matthew Gergely. After they reminisced about high school and shared stories of growing up together in McKeesport, the Mayor told Swin about all the exciting developments happening in the city. Swin looks forward to continuing to draw attention to and be a part of the positive developments in her hometown!
Swin also visited the Housing Authority to thank them for partnering with her Cash for Kids Youth Leagues and shared her hopes for expanding the leagues so more children will have the opportunity to play basketball for free.
Her visit would not have been complete without a visit to Youth Places, a partner in the Cash for Kids summer Youth Leagues. Plans were discussed with Reggie and Loree about additional possible programming, so stay tuned!
A visit to Eat’n Park’s corporate offices and a meeting with CEO Jeffrey Broadhurst and Director of Corporate Giving & Community Partnerships, Trina DeMarco, gave Swin the opportunity to see all the incredible charitable work that the company does in the communities they serve. Of course, Swin had to have dinner at Eat’n Park in McKeesport! The milkshakes were incredible – as always! Everyone left full and happy!
Naturally Swin has been seeing family and friends during her stay. There aren’t many places she can go in McKeesport where she doesn’t know someone! And with all the beautiful weather, she got to enjoy the outdoor areas around town. She even got to spend extra time with her 7 year old niece!
She looks forward to coming back again soon, seeing more sights, meeting more people and getting even more involved in the fabric of the town that helped weave her into who she is today.
There truly is no place like home.
